Building a Snowman Holiday Veggie Board

Bring a Board: Holiday Party Fun with a Veggie Twist

This year, my book club hosted our annual holiday party, and we followed the tradition of “bringing a board.” I know—does it sound a bit cliché for The Sugar Dietitian to volunteer for a veggie board? Maybe! But when I came across some adorable ideas on Pinterest, I couldn’t resist giving one a try.

A Snowman Veggie Board That Stole the Show

The highlight of my board was a snowman design that turned out to be a huge hit! It was as festive as it was healthy, and there are so many other creative holiday veggie board designs out there for inspiration.

Here’s how I made it:

  1. Three Dips, Three Bowls: I used bowls of different sizes to stack and form the snowman shape.
    • Top Bowl (Head): French onion dip
    • Middle Bowl (Body): Roasted red pepper hummus
    • Bottom Bowl (Base): Country ranch veggie dip from my local Harmons grocery store (so good!).
  2. Decorations:
    • Eyes & Buttons: Raisins
    • Smile: Dried black beans (you could also use raisins for a consistent look, but I liked the variety).
    • Carrot Nose: I snipped the tip of a baby carrot for Frosty’s nose.
  3. Optional Flair:
    • Add a hat using blueberries or a scarf made of veggies like strips of red pepper or kale for extra charm.
    • You can also explore variations, like using three same-sized bowls or creating a single snowman face paired with a reindeer dip design (peanut butter dip is a great base for this!).

Other Creative Holiday Boards at the Party

I wasn’t the only one who brought my A-game to the board tradition! The other ladies outdid themselves with an incredible variety of boards:

  • A Christmas tree shaped pull-apart bread board
  • A hot cocoa board
  • A mimosa board featuring the viral candied cranberries
  • A fruit board
  • A meat and cheese or traditional charcuterie
  • A candy and donut board
  • A baked potato board
  • A taco board

What’s Your Favorite Holiday Board?

The creativity and variety at our party were truly inspiring—and delicious! Whether you’re a veggie board enthusiast like me or love a sweet and savory combo, there’s a board idea for everyone. I’d love to hear—what’s your go-to holiday board?

Happy holidays and happy board-making!
